Home for the Holidays...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Texas! We had our first snow of the season (well it was actually ice), but it still counts! Everything was white and pretty for the last 2 days...and if you're from Texas you know that most things shut down. After seeing car after car slide around on the icy roads, I wasn't about to try and go anywhere. So I got to spend lots of time working on my Christmas decorations, yippee! I hope you enjoy the pictures and have a very Merry Christmas!

Burlap garland is still one of my favorites...it adds so much to the tree yet it's so inexpensive! It's a win-win!

Little vintage touches make all my Christmas decorations pop and they can easily be transitioned into my everyday decor. I love the wooden blocks with chalkboard paint, they are super easy to make!

The Christmas sign was made using wood and paper mache letters that I spray painted silver. You could do any color to match your Christmas decor. All you need is a shelf or ledge to display them on. I change it up for different seasons. Check out my Halloween post with the same idea but a totally different look!

A vintage sled is perfect for Christmas decor!

I found this awesome nativity set at a resale store for $8. What a steal right!?! It was all different colors and very dark when I bought it. All it needed was a fresh coat of paint to bring it back to life. I painted it shabby white for a nice monochromatic look.

I fell in love with this wreath design on Pinterest, done by The Lily Pad Cottage, and knew I had to do it for my chalkboard this year. It took me awhile to complete, but I am super happy with the out come!

It's Halloween 2013!

The holiday season is upon us, and for me the start of that season is Halloweeeen!! While I love all the colorfulness of fall I like to go neutral for Halloween. For the past few years it's been all about black and white! I love the elegant and vintage look that can be created with spooky black and white décor!

I'm obsessed with chalkboards right now!! There are so many possibilities and they can be used for every occasion! I got the idea for my Trick or Treat chalkboard here...

This vintage looking newspaper came from Garden Ridge for $2. I framed it (with a frame I already owned) and placed a black matte around it for a fabulous and inexpensive décor piece!

I bought some wood and paper mache letters and spray painted them black for my Halloween sign. The store didn't have every letter I needed in the same style so I got a variation of three different styles and LOVE the way it turned out! I ended up liking in better than having all the same style letters.

The "Something Wicked This Way Comes" sign was super easy to make and also a fairly inexpensive project. I already had the burlap and the rope, in total I spent about $15. You can find the tutorial on how to make this at My Sister's Suitcase.

Eclectic Vintage Home Decor

I had the pleasure of visiting a friends house this weekend who's style is anything but ordinary. My style for the most part is very subtle. While I love color, my house tends to be more neutral with maybe a pop of color here and there. For example, in my kitchen I have pops of red.  I was so inspired by her use of colors and the mix of old and new items, I had to share some photos of her house with you.

Lonestar Antique Mall

It's been awhile since I posted anything, June and July have been busy months! I wanted to share something with you and this was the first thing I remembered to take pictures of :) The other day I was at Lonestar Antique Mall working on my booth and I had to take some pictures of my favorite booths while I was there. It's hard to not take tons of pictures because there are so many wonderful dealers at Lonestar , but here are a few samples of what's there now.
